“The game of the throne” is getting interesting with every passing minute as the power hungry vultures have once again been successful in upsetting the Modi government. The arc rivals in Andhra Pradesh, YSR Congress and TDP, have asked for a no-confidence motion against the Modi government. As the Lok Sabha was adjourned by the speaker Sumitra Mahajan, it is likely that the opposition will go for a no-confidence motion on Monday.
Will Rahul Gandhi become India’s new Prime Minister on Monday?
As soon as the YSR Congress and the TDP seeked for a no-confidence motion, Rahul Gandhi’s Congress party jumped into the action. Even in the past, the Congress party with the backdoor talks with the smaller parties was successful in framing government.
Now, the top opposition parties like Congress, TDP, YSR Congress, TMC, JDS, RJD, CPI(M) and Shiv Sena will vote against the Modi government. Still, they will fall short of their greed to dethrone Modi government as the Modi government will cross the majority mark as they have 274 seats on their own. Yes, its 274 not 282 seats as the BJP lost almost all the by-poll elections after 2014.
So, as of now, Rahul Gandhi won’t succeed in becoming India’s new Prime Minister. But, if the think tank of Congress succeeds in luring the BJP MPs, then a danger is hanging on BJP’s heck.
At present, the number of MPs required to prove majority is 272 and the BJP has 274 seats on its own. In 2014, Modi led NDA had 331 seats but now TDP has betrayed and that’s why the seat share has drastically come down. As the TDP had 16 MPs in the Lob Sabha, the NDA seat share has come down to 315 seats.
Even the Shiv-Sena might go against the Modi government during the no-confidence motion. So if Shiv Sena betrays, the NDA seat share will come down to 297 and this is a reason to worry. Because, Congress may succeed in luring other small parties to give portfolios if the Modi government is toppled. And this possibility cannot be denied also.
Atlast, the next big hurdle to the Congress party is just pull in some of the BJP MPs to their kitty. MPs like Kirti Azad and Shatrughan Sinha might also go against BJP in the no-confidence motion. So, BJP has just got 48 hours to make it sure that their MPs are not pulled in by the Congress-led UPA.
