Marcelo Pays Tribute To Gianluigi Buffon In The Most Brilliant Way During Coin Toss

It could be Gianluigi Buffon's last ever game in the Champions League this evening, but the legendary Italian still produced a classy response when asked about the end of his time in Europe's biggest competition.
"Will this be my last Champions League appearance? It's a possibility, but the most important thing is that it's not the last for Juventus." he told the media before tonight's tie against Los Blancos.

The reason I decided to include this quote here is simple. Buffon is, and always has been, a class act and one person who knows that more than most is Real Madrid defender and captain, Marcelo.

As the pair approached each other during the coin toss before kick-off, the Brazilian stood opposite the 40-year-old and literally took a bow to recognise his legendary status.
A brilliant gesture from another top, top player.

How often do you see this type of gesture during a coin toss?
Perhaps a simple shake of the hand of a tap on the shoulder would be the norm, but Marcelo clearly wanted to pay tribute to one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time.
Back in October last year, Buffon announced that he would call time on his incredible career at the end of the season, unless Juventus win the Champions League.

The 40-year-old has amassed 10 Serie A titles, three Coppa Italias and the 2006 World Cup along with 173 caps for Italy.
It will be sad to see Buffon wave goodbye to the Champions League, if Juventus fail to beat Madrid at the Bernabeu.
A truly classy individual both on and off the pitch.
