Sanders: Trump Has 'No Legal Authority' to Bomb or Attack Syria

"It is Congress, not the president, who determines whether our country goes to war and Congress must not abdicate that responsibility," declares Independent senator from Vermont

With expectations high that President Donald Trump will order airstrikes or a bombing campaign against Syria at any time, Sen. Bernie Sanders declared Wednesday afternoon that the president has "no legal authority" to directly target the government or military forces of Syria—a sovereign nation.

"We have been in Afghanistan for 17 years and Iraq for 15 years. The result has been massive regional instability, terrible loss of life, and a cost of trillions of dollars," said Sanders in a statement. "If President Trump believes that expanding the war in Syria will bring stability to the region and protect American interests, he should come to Congress with his ideas."

Far from alone in his assertion, the Congressional Progressive Caucus and other lawmakers from both sides of the aisle have also attempted to remind the president, and the American people, that Trump has no authority to unilaterally attack another country—aka start a war. Any military action taken without congressional approval, lawmakers argued, would be an "unconstitutional" violation.

We're All Going To Die On 23 April Because Of 'Death Planet', According To Conspiracy Theorists

Well guys, it's been fun but, sadly, all good things must come to an end, including life on this planet.
Yup, I hate to be the one to break it to you all but the end of the world is nigh. It's just around the corner, in fact, so don't bother booking that summer holiday - the world ends on 23 April.
According to one theory, the Rapture will be kicking off in a couple of weeks and we'll have the second coming of Christ when the sun and moon and Jupiter will all be in Virgo.

Astrological constellations are said to match up with passage 12:1-2 of the Book of Revelations - the passage reads: "And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of 12 stars. She was pregnant and was crying out in birth pains and the agony of giving birth."
Naysayers have responded to the latest claims by saying that this particular astrological alignment happens every 12 years, but conspiracy theorist David Meade believes otherwise.
He said: "By early April of 2018, the disappearance of the Church (all true Christians worldwide also known as the Rapture) will occur.
"This will be followed quickly by the rise of the Antichrist, the appearance of Planet X and World War III.
"Seven years of Tribulation will ensure. This is beyond any shadow of doubt."
He's also warned of massive volcanic eruptions - so, that's that then.
Mysterious Planet X, or Nibiru, is a conspiracy theorists favourite, but NASA has always denied its exsistence.
In a statement, a NASA spokesperson said: "Nibiru and other stories about wayward planets are an internet hoax. There is no factual basis for these claims.
"If Nibiru or Planet X were real and headed for an encounter with the Earth, astronomers would have been tracking it for at least the past decade, and it would be visible by now to the naked eye."

And, of course, this is far from the first time we've been told that we're all going to die a horrible, fiery death, isn't it? I've lost count of the amount of End Of The Worlds I've survived.

Marcelo Pays Tribute To Gianluigi Buffon In The Most Brilliant Way During Coin Toss

It could be Gianluigi Buffon's last ever game in the Champions League this evening, but the legendary Italian still produced a classy response when asked about the end of his time in Europe's biggest competition.
"Will this be my last Champions League appearance? It's a possibility, but the most important thing is that it's not the last for Juventus." he told the media before tonight's tie against Los Blancos.

The reason I decided to include this quote here is simple. Buffon is, and always has been, a class act and one person who knows that more than most is Real Madrid defender and captain, Marcelo.

As the pair approached each other during the coin toss before kick-off, the Brazilian stood opposite the 40-year-old and literally took a bow to recognise his legendary status.
A brilliant gesture from another top, top player.

How often do you see this type of gesture during a coin toss?
Perhaps a simple shake of the hand of a tap on the shoulder would be the norm, but Marcelo clearly wanted to pay tribute to one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time.
Back in October last year, Buffon announced that he would call time on his incredible career at the end of the season, unless Juventus win the Champions League.

The 40-year-old has amassed 10 Serie A titles, three Coppa Italias and the 2006 World Cup along with 173 caps for Italy.
It will be sad to see Buffon wave goodbye to the Champions League, if Juventus fail to beat Madrid at the Bernabeu.
A truly classy individual both on and off the pitch.

Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg Will Not Be Under Oath Before Senate Committee, But Compelled by Statute to Tell The Truth

When Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg takes the stand before a joint congressional panel on Tuesday, he will not be under oath, Breitbart News has learned. But he will be required by federal statute to tell the truth, and if he lies he could face serious legal consequences.

A senior Senate GOP aide helping organize the joint Senate Judiciary Committee and Senate Commerce Committee hearing told Breitbart News that it is standard practice not to swear witnesses like this in under oath. But they are required by law to tell the truth, the aide says.

“He won’t be under oath, but he is under legal obligation to tell the truth,” the Senate aide told Breitbart News of Zuckerberg.

The Senate hearing, the first of two appearances Zuckerberg will make before Congress this week, begins at 2:15 p.m. ET on Capitol Hill. Judiciary Committee chairman Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) will begin by explaining how the joint committee hearing will operate, then opening statements will be made by Senate Commerce Committee chairman Sen. John Thune (R-SD), Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Grassley, and Commerce Committee ranking member Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL).

Zuckerberg himself will deliver a five-minute statement as well; then the hearing will be open to committee members for questioning the highly controversial Facebook CEO and founder.

Between the two committees, a whopping 44 senators will have the opportunity to question Zuckerberg on Tuesday afternoon.

This is just the first of two official testimony appearances Zuckerberg will make on Capitol Hill this week. After the Senate hearing on Tuesday, Zuckerberg will return to the Capitol on Wednesday for another hearing on the other side of Capitol Hill before the House Commtitee on Energy and Commerce.

BLINK: After Trump Tirade, China Pledges To 'Significantly' Lower Tariffs, Protect Intellectual Property

President Trump last week raged about China's high tariffs against American products. The Mainstream media breathlessly predicted a devastating trade war -- one the MSM gleefully declared the U.S. would lose -- and said the aggressive move would devastate the stock market.
Neither happened. In fact, the exact opposite occurred.
On Tuesday, Chinese President Xi Jingping announced plans to "open" China and vowed to "significantly" lower tariffs on automobile imports from the U.S.
"China does not seek trade surplus. We have a genuine desire to increase imports and achieve greater balance of international payments under the current account," Xi said at the economic Boao Forum for Asia.
Mr Xi also pledged to reject attempts to impose barriers on world trade, saying that “China’s door of opening up will not be closed and will only open up even wider."
Xi warned against a tit-for-tat battle over tariffs.
"We must refrain from seeking dominance and reject the zero-sum game, we must refrain from 'beggar thy neighbor' and reject power politics or hegemony while the strong bully the weak," Xi said.
Instead, countries should "stay committed to openness, connectivity and mutual benefits, build an open global economy, and reinforce cooperation within the G-20, APEC and other multilateral frameworks. We should promote trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, support the multilateral trading system," he said.
On Monday, Trump berated China for its high tariffs, which are charged on imported goods.
"When a car is sent to the United States from China, there is a Tariff to be paid of 2 1/2%," Trump wrote on Twitter on Monday. "When a car is sent to China from the United States, there is a Tariff to be paid of 25%. Does that sound like free or fair trade. No, it sounds like STUPID TRADE - going on for years!"
In addition to the move on tariffs, Xi also vowed to strengthen intellectual property rights, addressing another of Trump’s main complaints against the communist country.
"We encourage normal technological exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and foreign enterprises and protect the lawful [intellectual property] owned by foreign enterprises in China," he said.
Now this may be shocking to the MSM, but the markets soared on the news. Dow futures were up more than 350 points heading into the market open on Tuesday.
"Concerns over a potential trade war between the U.S. and China have been alleviated somewhat after Chinese President Xi Jinping discussed plans Tuesday to further open up the country's economy, with measures including lowering import tariffs on autos, enforcing legal intellectual property of foreign groups and reducing duties on other consumer products," CNBC reported.

Trump lawyer Michael Cohen's office raided by FBI

The FBI has raided the offices of Michael Cohen, the long-time personal lawyer for US President Donald Trump.
Law enforcement acted on a "referral" from Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating suspected Russian meddling in the 2016 election.
Officials in New York seized "privileged communications" between Mr Cohen and his clients, his lawyer said in a statement after the raid.
Documents regarding a payment to a porn actress were also seized, US media say.
Mr Cohen has come under increasing public scrutiny since he admitted to making a $130,000 (£92,000) payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels just days before the 2016 presidential election.
Ms Daniels - who claims that she had a sexual encounter with Mr Trump shortly after his wife Melania gave birth to their son - says she was paid to keep quiet about the affair.
"Today the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York executed a series of search warrants and seized the privileged communications between my client, Michael Cohen, and his clients," Mr Cohen's lawyer Stephen M Ryan said in a statement.
"I have been advised by federal prosecutors that the New York action is, in part, a referral by the Office of Special Counsel, Robert Mueller."
Mr Ryan called the raid "inappropriate and unnecessary".
"It resulted in the unnecessary seizure of protected attorney client communications between a lawyer and his clients. These government tactics are also wrong because Mr Cohen has co-operated completely with all government entities, including providing thousands of non-privileged documents to the Congress and sitting for depositions under oath," the statement said.
Last week, Mr Trump said he was unaware of the payment to Ms Daniels.

Robert Mueller Causes Panic as He Seizes Multiple Bank Accounts

When you take an occasional glance at the court documents Special Counsel Robert Mueller periodically files, you can’t help but notice things he secretly did a long time ago, which serves as a friendly reminder that he’s always several steps ahead of the rest of us at all times.

The latest proof of this lies within his most recent filing, which reveals he’s been seizing Trump-Russia bank accounts since last year.According to court records, Mueller seized bank accounts at three financial institutions last October around the same time he was indicting and arresting Paul Manafort. With that in consideration, based on the series of financial crimes involved, this shouldn’t be all that surprising.

However, this news is huge as it provides the first official confirmation to wondering minds that Mueller is seizing bank accounts and financial assets of those he’s targeting with criminal charges in the Trump-Russia scandal.

As huge as this news may be, that seizing began six months ago. With that said, can you imagine how many more moves, and perhaps more importantly, how many more accounts and financial assets he’s targeted since then?Just think about it. Last summer, it was four months before we knew of George Papadopoulos’ arrest and subsequent plea deal. Between that and the latest, if the trend continues, it’s hard to say who else he may have arrested or flipped at this point. But considering all the names involved, you know just as well as I do…there must be others.

So, as with all things pertaining to Mueller’s investigation, there’s always a method to the madness. If I had to guess why Mueller is choosing now to disclose that he went after Manafort’s money, I’d say it’s because he’s trying to send a message to the next Trump-Russia figure. He likely has months worth of evidence against them, and is pushing them to the brink in hopes for a plea deal.

I don’t know about you, but I certainly can’t wait to see what the next court records reveal..
